Shibas at Rosemont & ClevelandI should do these things closer to the date, but you know how it is during the holidays! Anyway ... here goes Thursday at Rosemont (Starved Rock KC), Judge was William Usherwood. WD was Innisfree's Tali Mon shown by Trish Kanzler (nice to see you here on your annual trip to the midwest Trish!). WB for a nice major was Sensei Sno-Storm Black Beauty, owned by Rappaport & Rotkowski, shown by Chris Jones. Is this the same puppy Deanna had up in Michigan in August of 2001 I wonder... loved her dad Keisei. A double win today for Chris Jones/Anne Rappaport as Ch. Sensei Rice Cakes took Best of Breed and BOS to the Veteran Mickey (Ch. Reno Sakura Jackpot) I wasn't there for Friday's Fox River Valley KC (no vacation days :( ), but here's the scoop ... Judge was Elaine Rigden. Tali-Mon repeated his win, but even better was BW for a major! :) WB came from the BBE Bitch class, Karen Drentlaw won a major with Te-Shi Pekoe. This bitch should be pretty close to finishing! Best of Breed again went to Rice Cakes. Tali-Mon was BOS. On Saturday at Skokie Valley KC we had a new shiba judge, Richard Miller. He did a good job judging, despite a really bad cold! (I could relate, not sure who used more kleenex that weekend). He has a background in Chihuahuas and attended the National in 2000 that was in Springfield, IL. His WD was Tali-Mon and BW,WB from the 12-18 class was Hanako (Ranchlake Henohenomoheno Nekatzuki). Unfortunately due to circumstances under no one's control, the majors broke this day and Sunday. Best of Breed went again to Rice Cakes, hotly contested by the Veteran Dog Mickey :) At last Sunday rolled along, the last show of the year for everyone that was entered... at Starved Rock KC II, the judge was Kenneth Falconi. WD and BW was Yori Green's Riki, (Kure No Toyoriki Godaikoso), WB again was Black Beauty. Winning his 300th BOB (so glad we don't have to go into 2003 sitting on 299) was the Veteran Mickey :) Black Beauty was BOS over the special (unfortunately one class bitch that could have shown didn't because the major had broken ... if she had, this would have been a major by virtue of going BOS) Heard from Tammy Szabo who went to Cleveland with Hannah Banana who took WB every day, and Best of Breed for a major on Thursday! Tammy's Toby took a Breed at the Sunday show (naturally having the stay for group on the last day! LOL). Tammy also got a major on a malamute at the specialty I think. A good weekend indeed! Shibas at Goldcoast
Shibas at KankakeeWe headed down to Kankakee early in the morning on November 30th. Much as I remembered it, this show site is rather small without a lot of grooming space, but we did get a decent sized ring this year and I think they have improved the lighting as well. Our judge on Saturday was Fred Bassett, he is a Pom breeder I believe and is nice with the dogs. His BOB winner for a major from the classes over MY special to finish was Tammy & Alex Szabo's Toby (new Ch. Storm Kloud's It's All About Me by Kori out of Harlot (a Mickey daughter ;)). Toby celebrated his new status by going on to a Group III! It was a good day for Tammy as she also showed Evelyn Behren's and Cathe Harvey's Hannah Banana to WB and BOS.
Pictures to come later, I had my camera there the first day but the flash just washed out faces too badly and then I forgot it on Sunday (natch), will be publishing show photos upon availability. Also saw on the AKC site that Mt. Fujii Beechnut picked up her first group placement from the classes out in AZ somewhere under Joe Gregory. Congrats to Sue and Rosie on her wins! She also finished on this day.
