Shibas in SeptemberYikes, has it been that long since I went to a show myself? Well, let's see if I can remember some of the results. At Wilmot on Saturday, the only shiba shown was Tammy Szabo's Toby who was venturing out in his summer undies in preparation to get some hair for Nationals :) The next day Yori Green came up and took BOB, BW, WD with her male (name escapes me, sorry), then Karen Drentlaw won WB with Tama. The following weekend I went to the local Shiba Picnic. It was a great time and the silent auction brought in some monies for rescue. Thanks to Brian and Joanne for the use of their lovely yard and house for the picnic. I know there is a place to order a CD of the pictures that were taken, but I need to try to find the Shiba-L posting about that, unless someone wants to send me a blurb <hint, hint!> Last weekend at Freeport, Tammy showed a bitch for Evelyn Behrens, Hannah Banana (need to look up her whole name but I think it's Blue Loon GW's Hannah Banana or something like that), she took BOB,BW,WB and Best Puppy in Breed at her first show. Pat Doescher's BJ was BOS,WD for a point also. On Sunday, Pat was WD again for a point, but had to go BOB to do it over Karen Drentlaw's Tama. After judging, we all played with puppies for a while and then Pat, Karen, Jane Chapin and her mom and I went out for Chinese, since I brought my nekkid bitch and made it a point, Karen and Pat bought my lunch :) Shibas at Elgin Kennel ClubThis is the kennel club I belong to, so you WOULD think it would pull a HUGE entry in shibas since I CANNOT show <wink>. Actually we did end up with a nice entry on Sunday as several people could not attend on Saturday. Jane Chapin was here both days with her lovely B/T boy Dekker who won the breed (and the lovely Mikasa trophy that I donated) on both days! The judge Saturday was Roger Pritchard and on Sunday Margaret Young Renihan and shibas showed late on both days. On Sunday Yori and her boy emerged victorious with BW, WD for 2 points. He sure is doing well now that he has grown some hair :) Karen Drentlaw also ventured out with Tama and took WB and BOS. I took a few more pictures than this, but some of them just weren't very good (ears went down at the wrong time). So here is what I have.
Chicago Air ShowI admit it ... I do other stuff besides dog shows ... and this year I had the opportunity to get a look at the Chicago Air Show (or parts of it) from behind the scenes at the Gary-Chicago airport ... click here if you don't mind looking at pictures of something other than shibas :) |
