Shibas in Alaska1/25/03 Judge- Henry Moulton and more news from Alaska, there are TWO shibas in the top 15 Non-Sporting dogs #5 Torii's Doin' The Sweetness Shuffle Shibas at GrayslakeAnyway, Joe Walton judged the first day and Dekker was Best of Breed, Judy S's new little Ember daughter was BOS,BW,WB for her first points. Judy's male was also WD. Our judge on Sunday was Dee Maltz and she found her breed winner to be Toby, and the Vogt's Hanako was WB for a major (I have a picture of this, but need to save it to the site). Yori Green's Riki was BW to finish his championship.
Shibas at Des MoinesOn Saturday, January 18, under Stephen Hubbell, Jane Chapin's Maverick took Best of Breed and Maverick's daughter Faith (owned by Richard & Kris Trimble) took BW and BOS to finish! Sunday's Judge was Mrs. Lynwood Walton, Maverick again took the breed, Faith was BOW and Toez to WB for a major and BW. Midwest Shiba Rescue EventMidwest Shiba Inu Rescue hosted a fundraising event at the Lynfred Winery in Roselle, a great time was had by all and more details as well as photos can be found at http://www.shibarescue.org/WineEvent/WineEvent.asp! Information on upcoming events can be found at the Midwest Shiba Rescue Home Page Shibas at WaukeshaLet's see if I can remember this ... the first day we had David Doane (a Dal breeder), he gave WD to Judy S's male (someone help me out here!), BW,WB was Karen's Pekoe, BOB was Toby. On Sunday, we had Florise Hogan, she gave BW,WD to Pat Doescher's adorable Chip pupper, WB to Vogt's Hanako, and BOB again to Toby. Shibas at the InternationalI know I'm a little bit behind here (again!), Dadbir nags me about it all the time... The International is one of only about 6 benched shows left in the U.S. and I always try to attend. This year was no exception, except that our ring times were SO early that I think I only saw the sun a few times over the weekend and let's not even talk about the line to load up on Sunday ... thank goodness I only had to load up two crates and could take them out via the elevator. Our judge the first day was Bea Goodman, only a couple of hardy souls showed up, me and Yori Green with Kiku. Kiku was WB and Mickey was Best of Breed. Despite sitting around all day to show in group, we didn't even get a look! (but to be honest, it was probably a stronger group than was at the garden) Then we had Barbara Alderman, she gave BW,WD to Tina King's B/T import (not from Japan, but somewhere in Europe), and WB went to Jane Chapin's "Take A Bow" Toez. They both got a nice major, I think it was 4 points. BOS went to a Sno-Storm bitch (I think!), I know not her call name or her owner off the top of my head. Mickey was Best of Breed again :) On the first day of the benched shows, we had Michelle Billings. WD again was Tina King's B/T dog. BOS,BW,WB was Judy S's Ember baby girl who was also Best Puppy. BOB from the Veterans Class over a specials class that included three grandkids was the Mickster again. On the last day ... when only adrenalin was keeping some of us going ... Chuck Trotter finished Tina King's B/T male by giving him BW over Vogt's Hanako (who was obviously WB). The Sno-Storm bitch was again BOS to the Veteran Dog, Mickey. Hanako's dad Jeff Vogt kindly sat near the crates most of the day so that Mickey could get some rest, because he is too spoiled and if I was there he had to be OUT! Jeff's favorite statement at the benching area was "they look just like a fox!", he threatens next year to bring a pad of paper and mark down how many times it's said in one day at IKC.
